Hannah Thompson

I started volunteering with Hands and Voices when I was a student in my 2nd year in 2008. I then started working with Movers and Shakers when I was studying for my Community Music MA in January 2011 and increased my hours gradually from there.

I have 3 main aspects to my job. I’m Project Leader which involves running various projects which includes getting messy in Creative Interactions, doing all things fun and musical with several groups, loads of Singing and Signing with Hands and Voices and IMPs and running iMUSE. I’m the named Safeguarding Officer for AAM, and I’m also the Communication Co-ordinator which means I lead on communication development. This involves all communication, from written through to Total Communication and Intensive Interaction. I’m a Signalong Tutor, and have my level 1 and 2 British Sign Language Signature Certificates, so I also give training on Sign Supported Communication.

I’m also a support worker for children and young people with disabilities, which I’ve been doing for various organisations for many years. Outside of work I help run a Community Gospel Choir, and try and get into as many musical things as possible!
