IMPs (Inclusive Music Projects)

IMPs is a year-round programme of inclusive music activities for children and young people from York and the surrounding area. You can find out more about all the IMPs activities below.

You don’t need any previous musical experience to take part and we support everyone to get involved and express themselves in the way that works best for them.

Projects

  • Junior IMPs

    Junior IMPs is a weekly, inclusive music group for children aged 5-10.

    At Junior IMPs you can make music, learn to sing and sign in our choir and meet new friends.

  • Senior IMPs

    Senior IMPs is a weekly, inclusive music group for young people aged 11+.

    At Senior IMPs you can learn to sing and sign in our choir, make music in our band and train to be an apprentice workshop leader.

  • IMPs Holiday Clubs

    We run fun inclusive music workshops during the school holidays.

    Junior IMPs workshops are for children aged 5-0 and Senior IMPs workshops are for young people aged 11+.

  • IMPs Apprentice Training Programme

    The IMPs Apprentice Training Programme offers disabled and non-disabled young people the chance to train to become music workshop leaders.

    They work alongside our music leaders to plan and deliver workshops in singing and signing and music making.

  • IMPs Outreach Workshops

    We run music workshops in schools, youth groups and community settings around York.

    Workshops are co-led by our apprentices, disabled and non-disabled young people who are training to become workshop leaders.
