Adult Summer Socials are a big hit!

It’s been fab to see so many familiar faces at our Summer Socials this year. There were even some new faces, ready to make new friends. These relaxed morning sessions provided a great space for adults to hang out with friends old and new.

Summer Socials Sports Day 1

For the first session, we held a super sports day event with lots of fun activities. We got the gnomes out of retirement for a game or two of bowling, played basketball and more. What's the best way to round up a sport-tastic day? With an egg and spoon race, of course! Everyone loves a good egg and spoon race and today was no exception!

Summer Socials Animals 1

Next up, we made friends with some furry (and not-so-furry) critters with the help of Creature Ark [Link to Creature Ark Website]. They provide a hands-on learning experience of creatures from around the world, brought straight to you.  It's been a while since Creature Ark had face-to-face interactive workshops, so we were thrilled when they agreed to come along. The gang met a Pygmy Hedgehog, a scaly Snake and Timotina the Tortoise amongst other cute creatures.

This session was a sensory treat, and we can’t wait to have Creature Ark back.

Summer social africa

To round off the Summer Socials, we took ourselves on a movement and sound journey to Africa. We began our session with a Djembe (African Drum) each and came up with an ace African-inspired drum piece. We put the drums down to design a fab T-shirt or necklace with patterns and bright colours inspired by Africa. They were all ace! Then, we spent the rest of the session moving our bodies in different ways. Phew! We were well and truly danced out by the end of the day.

We had barrels of fun with our friends this summer and we're already looking forward to the next one. Until then, we have weekly fun with our regular Movers and Shakers and Hands and Voices Choir. Click on the links if you fancy learning more and getting involved!
