Santander Foundation support our AbleWeb York programme

Accessible Arts & Media is very grateful to have received £4,725 from the Santander Foundation, which offers Discovery Grants to UK registered charities for projects that help disadvantaged people in local communities. At AAM we provide projects provide a safe and supportive environment where people can express themselves and develop the confidence and skills to engage with their community, or re-join work or education.

This grant will support our AbleWeb York programme to target social and digital isolation for people with learning disabilities, mental health issues, and older people in the area. The donation will make it possible for Accessible Arts & Media to deliver 150 hours of tailored training and support for vulnerable adults, providing them with much-needed work-related opportunities.

Rose Kent, Creative Director of Accessible Arts & Media, said: “We’re incredibly grateful to the Santander Foundation for supporting the vital work we do and helping us champion digital inclusion in York. When we help people to safely and confidently use the internet and to engage with digital technology, we’re supporting them to make their own choices, link up with friends and family and their local community and, vitally, feel more included in this increasingly digital age.”

Beverley Learmonth, Branch Manager at Santander’s York Branch, said: “The Santander Foundation makes hundreds of donations every year to good causes throughout the UK. Our branch is committed to playing a key part in the community and we are delighted to be supporting Accessible Arts & Media, and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.”

Our AbleWeb York team are looking forward to delivering more workshops this year across York thanks to the support of funders such as the Santander Foundation.
