Celebrate good times - Come on!

On the 3rd of July, the IMPs and Hands and voices choirs joined forces with Copmanthorpe Community Choir. After 2 ½ years of online meetings and outdoor busking, it felt good to see our choirs perform indoors again. Together, they raised the roof as well as plenty of smiles and cheers!

Since the Pandemic began, we’ve adapted our sessions from online to hybrid and in-person sessions. It’s been a massive change, but our projects have taken it in their stride. So, what better way to celebrate than to have an end-of-term performance to remember!

First up, were the IMPs and the band they’ve put together this year. They sang ‘Singing on the Stage’ a song written and composed by the young people themselves. They finished on a fantastic rendition of ‘Hall of Fame’ by The Script, which brought the audience to their feet.

Next up, Copmanthorpe Choir sang favourites such as ‘Hold Back the River’ and ‘Thank You for the Music’. They sang a moving rendition of 'This is my Voice', a song written by Hands and Voices. First performed at Sing Out in 2019, it tells of how important it is for everyone to have a voice.

The Hands and Voices choir were next up for their time to shine. They sang ‘I Like the Flowers’, which you might remember from the video they did over lockdown. ‘April Showers’ and ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ saw the audience join in the fun, both singing and signing.

The big finale brought all three choirs onto the stage to say thanks and sing the last song together. The last song? Well, it had to be Kool & The Gang's classic party anthem "Celebration" of course!

A massive thank you to everyone who came down to see such a special gig. We can’t wait for the next one!
