iMUSE for Wellbeing has a new home!

After two wonderful years at the Raylor Centre our iMUSE for Wellbeing sessions are moving to pastures new.

We're thrilled to be joining the thriving community hub at New Earswick Folk Hall, where there’s always something going on.

There’s a café where you can chill with a cuppa either before or after your session. How about checking out your next favourite book in their library whilst you wait? They've also got plenty of activities and classes on offer to get stuck into at any time – we think it’s fab!

If you’re unfamiliar with our new venue, it’s a bustling and inclusive community hub in the village of New Earswick, York. Click on this link for more information.

iMUSE continues to run every Wednesday from 10-4pm. Each 30-minute session will cost £10, however, we’re able to offer subsidies, including Pay as You Feel.

If, for whatever reason, you’re unable to afford this, don’t hesitate in getting in touch:  imuse@aamedia.org.uk and we’ll discuss what works for you.

What is iMUSE?

iMUSE provides a space where you can relax, forget the outside world and reduce stress and anxiety. iMUSE uses interactive technology to help you:

  • Relax – a vibrating mattress gently massages the body. Combined with deep breathing and other relaxation techniques, this calms and focuses the mind, relaxes muscle tone and reduces anxiety and stress.
  • Make music – you don’t have to have any previous musical experience to compose your own music with iMUSE. Motion sensors detect your movements and turn them into sounds that can relax and you’re your mood. Or you can just listen to some of your favourite music.
  • Create visuals – a microphone picks up sounds and iMUSE transforms them into calming visuals and projects them into the iMUSE space.

Our facilitator works with you to find out which sounds, music and visuals help you to relax and focus. They then use these to personalise your iMUSE experience so it’s tailor-made for you.

Who benefits from iMUSE?

  • Anyone who responds to and enjoys music and sound.
  • Anyone looking for a creative, interactive or therapeutic activity that enhances wellbeing.
  • People who experience anxiety, stress, discomfort and pain.
