New IMPs Programme Launches in York this Septemnber
We're very excited to announce some changes to our IMPs (Inclusive Music Projects) programme for children and young people. Thanks to generous funding from Youth Music and the Ed De Nunzio Charitable Trust, the following IMPs actviites will be running from this September onwards in York:
- a new weekly Junior IMPs singing and signing group for 5-10 year olds;
- Senior IMPs inclusive weekly music group for young people aged 11+;
- holiday activities in the half term, Easter and Summer holidays;
- the IMPs Apprentice Programme, where members of Senior IMPs get the chance to train to become workshop leaders.
The new funding means that we can keep developing the IMPs programme over the next 3 years. The new activities will give more children and young people from York and the surrounding the chance to take part in fun, inclusive music making activities. They also offer opportunities for young people to progress as they get older and develop their skills and confidence: from Junior IMPs to Senior IMPs and then to become IMPs Apprentices, where they'll get the chance to co-lead the Junior IMPs group, as well as delivering music workshops in schools and community groups.
The first Senior and Junior IMPs sessions will be on Monday 19th September. For more information on the IMPs programme, please visit our IMPs project page.
