Sign Supported Communication: Learn the Basics with Hannah
Did you know we’re taking part in this year’s York Disability week? The week runs from Saturday 26th November until Saturday 3rd of December and includes organisations from across the city.
The programme’s jam-packed with lots of fantastic events and workshops to get involved in. Take a look here.
This year Hannah will be leading a workshop called Sign Supported Communication: Learn the Basics.
A bit about the session and what you’ll get up to:
Sign Supported Communication is an important communication tool, especially for people with learning difficulties. Signing is used alongside speech and all other means of communication, which can include body language and facial expressions. We’ll learn the best practices in signing and some basic vocabulary and we'll even learn a signed song.
The workshop is suitable for anyone working with adults with learning difficulties, and adults with learning difficulties and their families.
Our workshop will run on Friday 2nd of December from 1-3 pm at New Earswick Folk Hall, upstairs in the Bramley Room. They have accessible access and lifts available on site.
It’s free to get involved, and we ask that you book in advance as spaces are limited to 15.
There’s a suggested donation of £10, should you feel able to donate. This will help keep our future sessions affordable for others.
